Emma joins the Persist team after a decade of experience in K-12 education as an accomplished teacher and school leader in Nashville. Most recently, she was selected as a member of the Diverse Leaders Network by the state of Tennessee. With a passion for connecting people together to champion for students Emma strives to build sustainable structures that drive success.
 
Teach For America brought Emma from Virginia to Nashville in 2014 to serve as a middle school Social Studies teacher. Since then she has founded an award-winning school, collaborated with district stakeholders on program development, and cultivated a top performing department in the state. Outside of education, Emma is a Storyteller at Jackalope Brew focusing on brand experience, sales, and sharing both the history and values of the organization to guests worldwide. She also sits on the Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga Alumni Board.
 
At home, Emma enjoys quality time with her partner, Sam, and their two rescue-mutts Arnold and Pippin (named after the musical, not the hobbit or basketball player but a common misconception).
